If this is the type of damage that you are dealing with, then a full replacement probably isn't necessary. There is the possibility that your roofing damage is a little more severe than you think, though, so make sure that you have it checked out by a roofing professional first.
2. The Rest of Your Roof Is in Good Condition
If the rest of your roof isn't in the best of condition, such as if your entire roof is showing serious signs of age, then it might be a waste of money to keep making repairs. After all, you'll only be spending money to repair a roof that will have to be replaced in the near future anyway. If your roof is still in good condition overall, on the other hand, making a few repairs to it might be what makes the most financial sense.

This means that you might not have a lot of money to pay for repairs right now. If this is the case, then having a simple repair done might be the solution that will better fit your budget.
4. You Want to Have Your Roof Repaired Quickly
If your roof has a leak or if you are dealing with other serious roofing issues, then you probably want to get them resolved as soon as you can. Typically, a simple repair will be faster than a total replacement, so this might be your best option if you are in a time crunch.
There will probably come a point when you will need to replace your entire roof due to age and wear and tear. Right now, though, it might not be necessary.
